Description
A deckhand position on the Fox II entails multitude of skills and abilities. It requires a positive attitude and a friendly manner. It often times requires you to multi-task you may need to pull a sheet, in the middle of serving coffee etc. Deckhands greet passengers, help them on board, make them feel comfortable and attend to their needs. Getting children into life jackets (and sometimes adults). It also includes sailing the boat. Everything from raising/lowering/trimming sails, tacking and gybing, steering and keeping a lookout. The job also includes making coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Taking orders, serving drinks and snacks, handing out jackets. Making people feel safe and happy. Sometimes includes cooking or preparing food for a charter. Cleaning is a constant responsibility of a deckhand. Everything must be kept clean and tidy aboard the ship. Surfaces are wiped, decks are mopped, ropes are put away and secured, food is put away, dishes are cleaned and put away.
