Skipper (Full time or part time)

The post of Skipper of EXCELSIOR has come vacant and we are looking for someone to start for a busy 2022 season. Full and part time options considered - salary £30,000 DOE

This is a unique opportunity to become involved with one of the most authentic sea-going vessels under the Red Ensign. Her present role as a sail training and charter vessel is demanding and requires previous sail training experience.

EXCELSIOR is a 100 Ton (displacement) 77ft L.O.A. former Lowestoft Smack. As a Core List vessel in the UK’s Historic Fleet she is maintained traditionally by our relief skipper and mate who work on the refit over the winter.

The skipper is responsible for the day-day management of the vessel and for delivering training to charter groups including socially diverse young people and vulnerable adults. Candidates must have some experience of traditional rig, and the minimum required qualification of R.Y.A. Yachtmaster (Sail) Offshore STCW Endorsed.
